This patient arrived 45 minutes late, and I asked her about her name she said something janahi(thedaughter), I told her but this is 45 minutes late, she replied carelessly yes I am late and there is lots of traffic outside!!!

In the same minute there were 2 MALE patients waiting by the door for their appointment and she saw them clearly. I told her if u r willing to wait after those 2 patients , I will see u and she agreed and sat on the chair just opposite my door.. I saw her there when the first patient left, and I saw her there when the 2nd patient entered , but after my 2nd patient has left she wasn’t there. I called her name several times but no response until I found that she went to the reception and booked another appointment.. additionally, I want to make it clear that the conversation between us was clear, simple and there was no conflict or argument. And she agreed to wait to be seen after the 2 patients. What happened later is not clear to me because I didn’t see the patient after that…

From my point of view, patients need to be on time , because delay causes disruption in the doctors organized work and flow in seeing the patients, plus this might cause some kind of conflict when u ask the late patient to wait, and all these issues may cause a delay in the management of other patients and decrease in the quality of the service provided. I hope u can make this point clear to the patient, and despite she was late I was willing to see her as her appointment didn’t exceed an hour of delay. If asking her to wait makes me untrustable doctor to see her daughter then that’s her opinion and she can see any other doctor she’s happy with.

Best regards

Shaikha

رد. د. شيخة
