Industry Minister: Financial package will help maintain economic growth

Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani has commended the royal directives to unify the national efforts to handle the repercussions of the global outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19). He said this will contribute to ensuring the safety of people. He pointed out the announcement of an economic and financial package worth BD 4.3 billion, lauding the efforts of all parties, the decisions of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the orders of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, to launch a financial and economic package to provide the needed liquidity for the private sector.
 
The Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister affirmed that the directives will contribute enormously to preserving sustainable growth, praising the decision to exempt the industrial and commercial companies from the fees on renting the government’s industrial lands for April, May and June, 2020. He also hailed a decision to exempt tourism facilities from tourism fees for three months this year, pointing out that the decision will greatly contribute to alleviating the financial burden on the commercial, industrial and tourism sectors.
 
The minister underscored the ministry’s support to the national efforts to maintain the sustainable economic growth amid the current global circumstances. He stressed that the safety of people is a top priority that requires concerted efforts to serve the national interest.
