Miss Faeqa bint Saeed ALSALEH
She is currently Minister of Health – Kingdom of Bahrain since 1st October 2015 – present.
She held the position of Minister of Social Development since 6th December 2014 – 30th September 2015.
Before taking her current position as Minister, she was Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) – Head of Social Affairs Sector (September 2012 – December 2014). She was in charge of supervising the Technical Secretariats of the Arab Ministerial Councils, namely, the Arab Social Affairs Ministerial Council, the Arab Health Ministerial Council and the Arab Youth and Sport Ministerial Council,. In addition to that, as Head of Social Affairs Sector, she was in charge of supervising 7 departments at LAS: Socail Development and Policies Dept., Health and Humanitarian Aids Dept., Women, Family and Childhood Dept., Youth and Sport Dept., Education and Scientific Research Dept., Culture and Dialogue of Civilization Dept., Population Policies, Expatriates and Migration Dept., as well as the Social Fileld Studies and Survey Unit.
She also worked as Advisor to the Secretary General of LAS as well as in charge of the Arab Economic and Social Council Secretariat (October 2008 – August 2012).
She contributed during her work at LAS in collaboration and coordination with the UN Agencies in implementing several social and humanitarian aids programs and field visits to the Arab States.
Before joining LAS, she was the Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Information at the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Bahrain and held several positions in statistics and educational planning for 25 years.
She represented the Kingdom of Bahrain and LAS in several regional and international councils such as: EFA Global Monitoring Report (GMR) Advisory Board, International Institute of Educational Planning’s (IIEP) Council of Consultant Fellows and Council of the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA), Council of Arab Scientific Research and Education Network (ASREN) as well as a member in many councils and higher committees such as: G8/BMENA on Education Task Force, Arab Planning Institute Council, Public Administration Institute Council and the Education Committee of the Supreme Council of Women.
She also held key positions in many projects such as national coordinator of Education For All (EFA), project coordinator of the Education and Training Reform in Bahrain and project manager of enhancing the quality of education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
She holds Master of Arts in Library and Information Studies – University of London - U.K. (1991). She also holds several postgraduate diplomas include: International Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Planning and Management – UNESCO / International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), Paris - France (2001), Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Management – University of Bahrain (1993), Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies – University of London (1989), Postgraduate Diploma in Education – University of London Institute of Education , U.K. (1983) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English Language and Literature – University of Baghdad (1976).
She participated and organized several national, regional and international conferences, seminars..etc, and presented number of papers and lectures in various fields.
