Minister of Health Receives Director-General of the Gulf Health Council

Her Excellency Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, received His Excellency Mr. Sulaiman bin Saleh Al-Dakheel, Director-General of the Gulf Health Council, during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain ahead of the annual meeting of Their Excellencies the Ministers of Health of the GCC countries, scheduled to be held in the State of Kuwait in October 2025.
During the meeting, the Director-General emphasized the importance of early consultation with member states to ensure that the agenda is aligned with their national priorities and to reach practical decisions that serve the health of GCC citizens. He also reviewed the key topics on the agenda of the 88th Meeting of GCC Health Ministers, including the update of the Gulf Health Council Strategy 2026–2030 in line with member states’ priorities and global health transformations. Discussions also covered the restructuring of the salary and benefits scale, the development of the governance model, and the review of draft resolutions, including unified procurement programs, pharmaceutical registration, and the “Wafed” program. In addition, new initiatives were discussed, such as the establishment of an Emergency Operations Center, a GCC Public Health Observatory, and a GCC Center of Excellence for Health.
For her part, the Minister commended the pivotal role played by the Gulf Health Council in strengthening cooperation and health integration among GCC countries, affirming the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for all efforts that advance the joint Gulf health agenda.
