Bahrain’s Minister of Health Meets Kuwaiti Counterpart and Signs Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Health Cooperation

Her Excellency Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain, met with His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi, Minister of Health of the State of Kuwait, on the sidelines of the 11th Meeting of the Committee of Their Excellencies the Ministers of Health of the GCC States, and the 88th (50th Session) Meeting of the GCC Health Ministers Council, held in the State of Kuwait.

During the meeting, both sides affirmed the deep-rooted and distinguished fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait, and the continuous growth of cooperation across various fields, particularly in the health sector, in a way that serves mutual interests and strengthens GCC health integration.

The discussions focused on ways to further develop bilateral cooperation in the health field through the exchange of expertise and successful experiences in areas such as primary healthcare, disease prevention, and public health system enhancement. Both sides also explored opportunities for collaboration in training and capacity building of health professionals, as well as expanding partnerships in pharmaceuticals and modern medical technologies.

In this context, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of Health of the State of Kuwait. The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in several key areas, including the provision of preventive and curative healthcare services, twinning between health institutions, coordination of regional and international health positions, collaboration in public health programs, and the prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases. It also encompasses the exchange of expertise in environmental health, climate change, and the One Health approach.

Furthermore, the MoU includes cooperation in training, capacity building, and workforce development, in addition to promoting the use of digital health technologies and innovation. It also supports collaboration with the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization (KIMS) and expands training opportunities for Bahraini healthcare professionals. The agreement covers cooperation in telemedicine and virtual healthcare, the implementation of health insurance and universal healthcare systems, the development of school health services, and the enhancement of pharmaceutical collaboration to ensure drug security.

The signing of this MoU reflects the shared commitment of both countries to strengthening strategic health partnerships, supporting sustainable health development, and advancing GCC integration in addressing current and future health challenges.
