Her Excellency Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayyed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, affirmed the significant support and attention the nursing sector receives in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the prosperous reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Great King of the country, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. These efforts have contributed to consolidating an advanced health system based on efficiency and sustainability, and enhancing the status of national health cadres as essential partners in the comprehensive development process.
This statement was made during Her Excellency’s virtual meeting with a group of nurses, in the presence of several officials from government hospitals and primary healthcare centers, on the occasion of International Nurses Day, observed annually on May 12th.
The Minister of Health emphasized that nursing staff represent one of the fundamental pillars of the health system due to their pivotal role in providing healthcare and enhancing the efficiency of curative, preventive, and rehabilitative services. She praised the high competence, dedication, humanitarian commitment, and professional responsibility demonstrated by nurses, highlighting their sincere efforts across various circumstances and challenges, which have supported the continuity of health services and strengthened the system's readiness.
Her Excellency noted that this year’s theme, "Our Nurses. Our Future. The economic power of care" (reflected in the local context as: Empowered Nurses Save Lives), underscores the importance of investing in and empowering nursing competencies. This empowerment is a key element in developing health services and achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) goals, aligning with national aspirations toward a more efficient and sustainable health system.
She also commended the qualitative achievements and effective contributions of the nursing sector in Bahrain in the fields of healthcare, prevention, and public health promotion, which support ongoing efforts to develop health services and institutionalize excellence within the health sector.
In concluding the meeting, the Minister of Health expressed her deep appreciation and pride in all nurses, valuing their national role and continuous efforts in serving patients and the community. She lauded their honorable model of dedication and humanitarian responsibility, wishing them continued success.
