H.E. Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, affirmed that over the past twenty-five years, the Supreme Council for Women has contributed to establishing an integrated national framework to support the advancement of Bahraini women and strengthen their contributions across various areas of national development. This has been achieved under the support and care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, further strengthening the role of women as active partners in the Kingdom’s development journey.

The Minister highlighted the role of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, and the solid foundations she has established for institutional efforts supporting the advancement of Bahraini women. These efforts have contributed to expanding women’s participation and strengthening their contributions across various sectors and fields.

The Minister made these remarks on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the Establishment of the Supreme Council for Women, noting that over the past twenty-five years, the Council has presented a national model for translating aspirations for women’s advancement into initiatives, programmes, and partnerships that have contributed to harnessing women’s capabilities and aligning their contributions with development priorities and the needs of society.

She added that the theme “Twenty-Five Years at the Heart of the Reform Project” reflects the position of Bahraini women in the Kingdom’s national development journey, and the responsibilities and roles they undertake in the workplace and decision-making positions, in addition to their roles within the family and society.

The Minister noted that the coincidence of the Silver Jubilee of the establishment of the Supreme Council for Women with the designation of this year as “Isa the Great Year”, commemorating the founder of the modern state, His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Ruler of Bahrain and its Dependencies, may his soul rest in peace, reflects the continuation of Bahrain’s firmly established national approach to building and developing state institutions and advancing the Kingdom’s journey of development and prosperity.

In the healthcare sector, the Minister of Health affirmed that Bahraini women are key partners in the healthcare system, undertaking medical, nursing, technical, administrative, and research roles. Their expertise and competencies contribute significantly to the quality of healthcare services and the promotion of community health. She reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to continuing to benefit from the expertise of Bahraini women and creating broader opportunities for their contributions to the future of the healthcare sector.
