Kingdom of Bahrain Hosts the 89th Meeting of the GCC Ministers of Health

The Kingdom of Bahrain hosted the 89th Meeting of the GCC Ministers of Health, attended by Their Excellencies and Highnesses the Ministers of Health of the GCC countries, along with Mr. Suleiman bin Saleh Al-Dakhil, Director General of the Gulf Health Council, as part of the Kingdom’s presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
During the meeting, chaired by Her Excellency Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, she emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen joint Gulf health action and building on the cooperation and integration achieved among GCC countries in the health sector. This will support the development and sustainability of health systems and enhance their capacity to adapt to rapid changes and developments in the health sector.
Her Excellency highlighted the role of the Gulf Health Council in translating strategic directions and visions into initiatives, projects, and implementation programs that serve the health sector across GCC countries. She noted that the progress achieved reflects the high level of coordination and integration among GCC countries, as well as their shared commitment to enhancing the efficiency of health systems and the quality of services provided to citizens and residents.
She also underscored the importance of continued coordination, knowledge exchange, and integrated efforts across various health fields to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of health systems and advance joint Gulf health action in line with the aspirations of GCC countries and their peoples.
The meeting discussed a number of items on the agenda, including the Strategic Performance Report on the implementation of the Gulf Health Council and Gulf Center for Disease Prevention Strategy 2026–2030, updates to the internal regulations, annexes, and charters of supervisory committees, as well as the Council’s and the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention’s 2027 budget and initiatives, in addition to draft resolutions submitted to the Council.
