Her Excellency Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to continuing its contribution to national efforts aimed at expanding green spaces and promoting sustainable environmental practices by increasing tree-planting activities across its healthcare facilities. These efforts support the objectives of the Tree-Planting Plan and the initiatives under the National Action Plan to Achieve Carbon Neutrality, announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect him.

This was stated during Her Excellency’s participation in “Tree Week”, held pursuant to the directive of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, designating the third week of October each year as Tree Week. During the event, Her Excellency planted a number of shrubs at the Ministry of Health’s headquarters, in the presence of several Ministry officials and employees, coinciding with the implementation of the Ministry’s plan to plant trees across its various healthcare facilities.

Her Excellency the Minister highlighted the importance of “Tree Week” in fostering a culture of tree planting, raising awareness about environmental conservation and the protection of natural resources, and encouraging broader participation in environmental initiatives. She emphasised that the healthcare sector’s participation in these efforts reflects the integration of national roles in achieving the Kingdom’s environmental targets.

She further explained that expanding tree-planting activities across healthcare facilities forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to promote sustainable practices within its premises and create environmentally considerate surroundings that contribute to increasing green spaces and conserving natural resources.

Her Excellency also stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among government entities, private-sector institutions, civil society organisations and individuals in continuing to implement tree-planting initiatives and expand green spaces. She noted that the Ministry of Health will continue to adopt environmental initiatives and practices that strengthen the healthcare sector’s contribution to achieving the objectives of the Tree-Planting Plan, alongside the Sustainable Development Goals.
