Chronic Diseases

Heart and circulatory system disease are considered as one of the most important causes of death in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, lipids, diabetes, smoking and obesity are the most important causes for of the circulatory system diseases.

The Ministry of Health specifies a large proportion of its budget to provide medicines to treat these diseases, instrument and laboratory analysis also provided for the diagnosis and treatment of the complications of these diseases.

Chronic diseases clinic was added in primary health care system to focus on reducing factors that leads to occurrence of heart disease from the outset, such as high fat, smoking, obesity, and by this way we can avoid the complications of these diseases.

The Chronic Disease Clinics is available in all health centers, with full professional team including doctor, nurse, health education and registration. The most important goal in these clinics is to educate patients about this disease and help them to follow healthy life style.

On protection side , the clinic recently start on providing some vaccination for diabetic patients, such as, seasonal Flu, D.T vaccine, Hepatitis B vaccine, Varicella vaccine, Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine(PCV), and Pneumococcal polysaccharide (PPSV).

This service was provided recently for the diabetic patients in health centers, where patients are screened and reports are sent to SMC eye clinic department for further evaluation. This clinic provides services in:

• Budaiya Health Center.
• Muharraq Health Center.
• Al sheikh Sabah health center.
