The first Nutrition Clinic was established in 2007 due to the high number of patients with obesity in the kingdom of Bahrain and the subsequent complications it can reflect on health. The clinic has achieved significant success in reducing obesity and limits its Risks. The Nutrition section in public health together with the coordination of primary health succeeded in opening clinics that covers the five health regions in the Kingdom.

Target group:

  • Adults 20 to 60 years old
  • Adolescents 12 to 19 years old
  • Those who have the desire to lose weight
The clinic excludes:
  • Patients with chronic illness like Renal failure, heart diseases and chronic liver disease.
  • Patients with severe psychiatric illness
  • Type 1 Diabetes milletes
How to get an appointment:
  • Book an appointment in the general clinic in your health center
  • Ask the doctor to refer you to the nutrition clinic
  • The physician will assess your health needs for the clinic and will request a referral
  • The medical records will book the appointment
  • A reminder will be sent to you one day before your appointment day
  • The nutritionist will review your history, measure your weight and Height
Services offered at the clinic:
  • Make a healthy food plan together with the patient
  • Nutritional council ling and encouragement of correct healthy Food behaviors
  • Calculate daily calorie requirements according to individual needs
  • Provide educational leaflets and pamphlets
  • Monthly follow up and measurement
