Description

Peptic ulcer disease is a condition in which there are painful sores or ulcers in the lining of the stomach or the first part of the small intestine

Causes

infection with H.pylori bacteria

the use of NSAIDs

Excessive acid production from a condition called Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Symptoms

 pain in the middle or upper stomach between meals or at night

bloating

nausea

vomiting

heartburn

Treatments

- antibiotics
- Antacids
- Protons inhibitors :

Prevention

- Avoid spicy foods
- Second hand smoking because nicotine effect on the stomach and intestinal lining .
- Avoid excessive use of painkillers for pain such as NSAIDs .
- Control of gastric acid reflux and in several ways, including: Avoiding spicy and oily foods ,.
