Countries around the world celebrate the World Hemoglobinopathy Week during the last week of October, from October 25th to 31st each year. The Kingdom of Bahrain joins the global celebration of this week, which aims to raise awareness about providing social and psychological care for patients, educating the community about genetic blood disorders by explaining the disease, its types, treatment, and preventive measures, as well as how those affected can live with these conditions. It also emphasizes the importance of undergoing comprehensive medical screening before marriage to help reduce the transmission of genetic blood disorders between generations, as medical tests can reveal the presence of defective genes in individuals who show no symptoms of the disease.
