Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine is non live inactivated vaccine given in 3 doses at age of 2 months, 4 months and as a booster dose at age of 12-15 months of age in the routine schedule. Also, it is given for adults at age of 50 years and more and for high risk groups. The vaccine is safe and effective against invasive disease by vaccine serotypes. The most common adverse events following vaccination among children include drowsiness after getting a dose of the vaccine, or lose their appetite temporary. Redness and swelling at injection site. Fever also might follow vaccination at any age.
