Vaccine Description
It is non live inactivated virus vaccine introduced in the in the routine vaccination schedule as first dose of polio only for children at 2 months and 4 months of age as part of the hexavalent vaccine. It is also used as a replacement to OPV for immunocompromised children in the routine schedule given at 4, 6, 18 months and 4-6 years old. Adverse event include local reactions (pain, and redness).
